Highfield Nursery School at Dyson Gardens at 145 Highfield Road Saltley Birmingham B8 3QF
In 2014 and 2016 our school expanded in size to provide places for 2 year old children. To develop the extra capacity the school has operated from Dyson Gardens. The learning environment at Dyson gives children access to a large, natural outdoor area. A special place:
- Movement Matters
- Risk-benefit analysis
- Loose parts – natural and recycled
- Nature and nurture
- Health and well-being
- A place to slow down and feel, breathe and be
Today Nursery at Dyson Gardens offers provision for two, three and four year olds with an ethos that follows the forest school approach. The children spend each session outside enjoying a unique experience and education.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, and incorporate learning in an outdoor environment where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning. The environment supports children's communication, imagination and thinking skills; building confidence and resilience.
This site has an indoor classroom used as a base area and for entry and exit. The substantial, secure outdoor area offers children freedom to move, explore, play and learn through interaction with children, practitioners, and natural and recycled materials.
